Hardness Converter
Convert between Vickers, Brinell, Rockwell HRC, and Rockwell HRB hardness scales.
| Hardness Scale | Scale Name | Value | Valid Range |
|---|---|---|---|
| HV | Vickers (HV) | 300(input) | 60 β 940 |
| HB | Brinell (HB) | 285 | 57 β 890 |
| HRC | Rockwell C (HRC) | 6.7 | 20 β 68 |
| HRB | Rockwell B (HRB) | N/A | 0 β 100 |
Note
Conversions are approximate based on ASTM E140 standard. Values outside valid ranges are shown as N/A. Always verify with material-specific data.
About this tool
The Hardness Converter helps you compare material hardness values that were measured on different scales. Because labs and datasheets report hardness using Vickers (HV), Brinell (HB), or Rockwell (HRC/HRB), a single number is often hard to interpret without a way to translate it into a familiar scale.
Enter a value on any one scale and the tool shows you the approximate equivalents on the others. It is handy for engineers, machinists, metallurgy and materials students, and QA staff who need to read across specifications and inspection reports quickly.
Keep in mind that cross-scale conversions are approximate and based on standard conversion tables such as ASTM E140, and they work best for steels. For critical work, always verify the result against the relevant standard or a direct measurement.
